Concrete is extremely heavy, approximately 4,000 lbs per cubic yard. A standard dumpster includes 1 to 4 tons depending on size, and concrete blows past that long before the container looks full. That is why concrete rides in dedicated heavy-material boxes quoted on flat rates instead of by the ton: you know the full number before the box arrives.

A 10-yard dumpster can physically hold 10 cubic yards of concrete, but at roughly 4,000 lbs per cubic yard, you will hit the weight limit at approximately 2.5-3 cubic yards. We typically recommend loading no more than one-third full for pure concrete.
