How does the weight math work on a real job?
Worked example: Stripping 1,000 sq ft of lawn
Sod cut 2 inches deep over 1,000 sq ft is about 167 cubic feet, or 6.2 cubic yards. At 1,500 to 2,000 lbs per yard that is about 4.6 to 6.2 tons, a heavy-box job. The same volume of brush at 200 to 400 lbs per yard is only 0.6 to 1.2 tons.

Because a few yards of soil or stone hits the truck's legal weight limit long before the container is full.
