Need a same-day or next-day dumpster in Louisville?
Same-day delivery is available across Louisville, KY on most sizes: flat-rate, no hidden fees, weekend drop-offs too.
Dumpster rental vs. doing it yourself
Not sure if you need a roll-off? Here's the simple rule, and how a dumpster compares to the alternatives in Louisville.
Rent a dumpster if…
- You have more than a pickup-truck load of debris
- It's a multi-day project (reno, cleanout, roof, move)
- You're tossing heavy material (concrete, dirt, shingles)
- You want it gone on your own schedule, not by appointment
You probably don't need one if…
- It's a single item or two (try junk removal instead)
- Everything fits in a couple trash bags
- Your city pickup will take it within a day or two

Straight Talk From Our Team
“Every order comes down to three questions: what's the material, what size do you need, and how long will you need the container. Material is the most important thing. Concrete and dirt are priced completely differently than household junk, wood, decking, or furniture. It's the first place to start, every time.
Size matters because you don't want more containers than the job actually needs. The way every dumpster company prices is basically by hauls: a haul is a drop-off and a pickup. So don't get a 10-yard if the job really needs three of them: a 30-yard up front might be an extra $300-500, but a 10-yard three times could be an extra $1,000+.
And pay attention to the rental days. Some places include 3 days, some include 0, some 7, some 14. That's why using someone like Ultimate is great. We help you make these selections and build the price exactly around what you need, versus haulers with set rates that might be too much or too little and quietly get you on weight or rental days.”

Most household and construction debris is accepted. A few regulated items can't go in any roll-off. Here's the honest list.
Accepted in Louisville
- Household junk & clutter

- Appliances (no refrigerant)
- Cardboard & packaging
Heavy materials (concrete, dirt, shingles) are accepted in a dedicated container sized for weight. Mention them when you book and we'll set the right allowance.
Not Allowed (by law)
- Hazardous waste & chemicals
- Wet paint, stains & solvents

Stuck with a prohibited item in Louisville? Call us and we'll point you to the right local disposal or recycling option.
“The biggest money mistake I see: ordering the box before the job actually starts. The rental clock starts when the container hits the site, not when your crew does. A dumpster that sits empty for three weeks is still three weeks of rental, and there's nothing anyone can do about that after the fact.”

Local Disposal Regulations in Louisville
Important rules and guidelines for dumpster rental in Louisville, KY. We handle the details so you don't have to.
Permit Requirements
Generally Not RequiredWhether you need a permit in Louisville depends on placement. A dumpster on your own driveway or private property generally does not require one. If it has to sit on a public street, sidewalk, or right-of-way, Louisville or Kentucky will typically require a temporary placement permit. Tell us where the container needs to go and we'll confirm the requirement for your address and handle the paperwork if needed.
Weight Limits & Overage Fees
Each dumpster size includes a set weight allowance: about 1 ton on a 10-yard up to 4 tons on a 40-yard, spelled out in your quote. In Louisville, weight overage is billed at $165 per additional ton (our live local rate, not an estimate). Tossing heavy material like concrete or dirt? Ask about a dedicated heavy-debris container instead.
Placement Rules
For residential deliveries in Louisville, driveway placement is preferred and requires no permit. Yard placement is available for properties with adequate access. Street placement requires a city permit. We need roughly 25 feet of overhead clearance (clear of power lines and branches), 10 feet of width, and about 60 feet of straight-line approach for safe delivery.
Local Disposal Facilities
Waste from Louisville dumpster rentals is processed at licensed solid waste facilities serving Jefferson County. We prioritize nearby transfer stations to minimize hauling distances and environmental impact. Recycling and material recovery are handled whenever feasible under Kentucky guidelines.
Regulations may change. Contact us for the most current requirements in Louisville, Kentucky.

Local Tips for Louisville, Kentucky Rentals
Heat & Humidity Considerations
Kentucky summers are hot and humid. If your dumpster will contain organic waste or food debris, schedule pickup promptly to avoid odor buildup. Keeping the lid area clear and loading in the morning hours can make the project more comfortable.
Storm Season Prep
Severe summer weather across Kentucky can drive sudden spikes in cleanup demand. If a major storm is forecast for the Louisville area, book your dumpster early. Post-storm debris cleanup is one of the fastest ways delivery slots fill up.
Yard Waste & Landscaping
Long growing seasons in Kentucky mean frequent landscaping projects. Our 10- and 15-yard dumpsters are ideal for brush, branches, and soil removal. Note that some Kentucky landfills require yard waste to be separated from construction debris.

Dumpster Rental FAQs: Louisville, KY
Answers to the most common questions about renting a dumpster in Louisville, Kentucky.
In Louisville, a roll-off dumpster averages $375 to $995 based on container size and your project. The popular 20-yard typically runs $525-$725. Every quote is all-inclusive (delivery, rental, pickup, disposal) with no hidden fees. Get your exact Louisville price by ZIP in seconds. Real example from our Louisville delivery records: a 15-yard in ZIP 40214 billed $483 in July 2025.
Three things decide every Louisville order: what the material is, what size you need, and how long you'll need the container. Material matters most: concrete and dirt are priced completely differently than household junk, wood, or furniture. Then think in hauls (every drop-off and pickup is one haul): a 30-yard up front might cost $300-500 more than a 10-yard, but needing a 10-yard hauled three times can run $1,000+ extra. Last, check the rental days. Some companies include 0 days, some 3, some 7 or 14. We include 7 and build the price around exactly what your job needs. (Michael V., Head of Operations)
For most Louisville driveway placements, no permit is required. Street or right-of-way placement in Kentucky, however, usually means a short-term permit from the local authority. Just tell us where the container needs to go and we'll handle the guidance.
In Louisville, the included rental window is 7 days. If your project runs long, we can extend it at a modest daily rate or set up a 2-4 week rental up front, whatever fits your schedule. In Louisville, extra days are billed at $40 per day, our live local rate.
Louisville customers can choose from 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, and 40-yard containers. Smaller sizes suit single-room and garage projects; the larger ones are built for whole-home and jobsite work. We'll recommend the right fit for your debris. In our own Louisville delivery records, the 20-yard is the most-rented size (35% of local orders).
The 20-yard (35% of the 80+ orders in our Louisville delivery records since 2019). If you're torn between two sizes, going bigger is usually the cheaper mistake: the price step up is small, while a container that's too small can mean paying for a second haul.
Construction debris is welcome in our Louisville dumpsters: framing scrap, flooring, roofing, masonry, and more. Dense materials like concrete and dirt can reach the included weight faster, so mention them when you order and we'll size the weight right. Debris from Louisville jobs is processed at licensed facilities nearby. The closest in our records is Bi Co Transfer Station (transfer station), about 3.2 miles out.
We deliver fast in Louisville: same-day when you book before noon and a local hauler is available, otherwise usually next business day. Check your ZIP to see the earliest slot. Heads up: September and August are the busiest rental months in Louisville in our delivery records. Book a day or two ahead then.
Beyond Louisville, we cover the surrounding suburbs and the greater Louisville metro across Kentucky. See our Kentucky page for the full city list, or enter your ZIP to confirm service at your address.
In Louisville, the included weight scales with size: ~1 ton (10/12-yard), 1.5 tons (15-yard), 2 tons (20-yard), 3 tons (30-yard), 4 tons (40-yard). Going over simply may accrue an overage, so tell us if you're tossing concrete or shingles and we'll add the right weight up front.
Most debris is welcome in Louisville, but a few things can't go in by law: hazardous waste, wet paint, solvents, asbestos, tires, batteries, and refrigerants. We'll help you find the right disposal for those. Reach out if you're unsure.
Yes: couches, chairs, tables, dressers, and most household furniture go straight into any Louisville dumpster. Furniture is bulky but light, so even a 10 or 15-yard handles a room's worth easily.
Definitely, roofers in Louisville use us constantly. The key with shingles is weight: they hit the scale fast, so most tear-offs belong in a 10, 12, or 15-yard with a roofing weight package rather than a big container.
Yes, with one rule: heavy masonry usually needs its own dedicated container in Louisville, typically a 10 or 15-yard loaded level-full, because concrete and dirt reach road weight limits long before the box looks full. Tell us it's heavy debris and we'll set it up right.
Yes, Louisville customers toss mattresses regularly. Because some Kentucky landfills process them separately, give us a heads-up when ordering and we'll confirm any facility handling details for your ZIP.
Yes for standard appliances in Louisville. Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners are the special case: federal rules require refrigerant removal before disposal, so they can only go in after being drained and tagged.
Usually not in the dumpster. Many states including parts of Kentucky restrict TVs, monitors, and e-waste from landfills. The good news: most Louisville areas have free e-waste drop-offs or retailer take-back programs. Ask us and we'll point you to the nearest option.
Absolutely. Louisville customers use 10-20 yard boxes for yard cleanups constantly. Stumps and large trunks are heavy, so flag those when you order and we'll size the weight allowance to match.
Mixed loads are the norm in Louisville: cleanout junk, drywall, cabinets, and flooring can all share a box. Keep concrete and dirt separate in a heavy-debris container, and leave out hazardous materials, and you're set.
Debris has to stay level with the container's top rim. That's a road-safety law, not our preference. If a Louisville load is heaped above the rim, the driver can't legally haul it and you'd need to level it before pickup. When in doubt, go one size up; it's cheaper than a second trip.
You'll just see the pre-disclosed per-ton overage on the final invoice. The scale ticket from the Louisville facility documents it. The smart move is telling us about dense debris when ordering so the included weight actually matches your project.
Not if it's placed right. Our Louisville drivers can lay protective boards under the contact points on request, which prevents scratching and indentation on driveways. Fresh asphalt (under a year old) deserves extra caution. Mention it and we'll plan placement.
No, most Louisville deliveries happen without anyone home. Just tell us exactly where you want the container (driveway side, angle, distance from the garage) when you book, and the driver follows your placement notes.
We schedule Louisville deliveries Monday-Saturday. If your project starts on the weekend, order by Friday and we'll line the container up so it's waiting when you are.
Once you tell us you're finished, we schedule the Louisville haul-away right away, usually next business day. Finishing early never costs extra. The container just leaves sooner.
Please don't move it yourself. Containers weigh thousands of pounds and dragging one damages pavement (and voids placement protection). If the spot isn't working in Louisville, call us and we'll relocate it properly with the truck.
Swap service is available throughout Louisville: full container out, fresh container in, usually same or next day. Tell us your project pace and we'll schedule swaps proactively.
The budget plays in Louisville: right-size the container the first time, separate clean heavy material (it can dump cheaper), and book a day ahead rather than same-day when you can. Everything else is already in the flat rate.
Rentals run rain or shine in Louisville. Containers are steel and weather doesn't stop delivery or pickup. One note: rain-soaked debris (especially drywall, carpet, or yard waste) weighs more, so tarp the load if heavy weather is coming and you're near your weight allowance.
Think of it as labor vs. price: a Louisville dumpster costs less per cubic yard and stays as long as you need; junk removal includes the lifting at a premium. DIY loaders save real money with the container.
Yes. From single-job roll-offs to standing accounts, we support Louisville businesses with reliable delivery windows, fast swaps, and one point of contact. Ask about our Pro program if you rent regularly.
Often yes, with the right paperwork: street placement in Louisville usually requires a temporary right-of-way permit from the city, and some blocks need reflective markers or cones. We'll tell you exactly what your address requires before delivery.
Easy: reach out before the driver heads your way and we'll rebook your Louisville delivery for whenever works. Weather delays, permit waits, project slips: we handle those daily.
To rent in Louisville, just drop your ZIP on our quote page, choose your container and date, and confirm. It takes a couple of minutes. You can also call (866) 858-3867 and a real person will set it up for you.
A swap-out works like ordering another container, and everything resets: new invoice, new rental days, fresh box. You fill it, tell us you need a return or swap, and we handle the dispatch, paperwork, weight tickets, and billing from there. Jobs with multiple swap-outs normally get repeat-business discounts, usually $25-$50, especially contractors and Pro Program members.
Cancel at least 48 hours before your delivery date for a full refund. Once dispatch schedules are set, last-minute isn't free: there's a flat $375 dispatch fee for canceling inside the 48-hour window. The $25 cancellation insurance add-on changes that: cancel anytime, as long as the driver isn't already en route. Not ready for delivery? Just call and move the date instead.
They're not prohibited, but they're not free either. Truly prohibited means hazardous materials (paint, chemicals, asbestos). Items like mattresses, tires, and appliances with refrigerant are charged per item by the landfill, and every area is different: one landfill charges $75 for a mattress and box spring, another charges nothing. We don't set those rates, but we'll call the landfill serving Louisville, get the exact numbers, and relay them back. All you have to do is ask.
If you want protection down, set it up before the driver arrives (wood blocks, 2x4s, plywood, pavers, mats, or a driveway tarp all work) and tell us so we brief the driver to place the container on it. In some areas we can provide protection ourselves; in markets served by smaller partner operations we can't always relay every request, so customer-supplied is the sure bet.
